How to Prepare for CAT in 3 Months?

Common Admission Test for the year 2021 admissions is known as CAT 2020 and will be conducted by IIM Indore on November 22. The exam is almost nearby, candidates are worried on how and when to start the preparation for CAT 2020. Since, the MBA entrance exam is considered to be one of the toughest management entrance exams of the country, it is likely for candidates to be confused on part of its preparation. Here, in this article, we shall answer the strategy to be used for how to prepare for CAT in 3 months. Only after clearing CAT 2020, candidates will be able to get a call from IIMs for further selection rounds.

Strategies to be followed for CAT

The registration of CAT 2020 will begin from the first week of August as per the exam dates. Given below strategies can be used by candidates to prepare for CAT in 3 months-

Decide between coaching or self preparation- First and foremost candidates have to decide whether they want to start the preparation of CAT 2020 exam by themselves or they wish to take help from coaching institutes. For self preparation, it is important for candidates to have access to good study material. For self study purpose, online study groups can be joined or candidates can contact friends who are in the same line of interest. If candidates are going for CAT 2020 preparation with the help of coaching institutes then a number of coaching institutes are available which can help in providing a good preparation plan.

Divide the preparation into 3 sections- As per the exam pattern of CAT 2020, there will be three sections in the exam. Hence, while making a strategy candidates should focus on all three simultaneously and not just one or two as all sections are equally important. For DILR, it is important to clear basics. For VARC focus on improving grammar, vocabulary and try to improve reading on a daily basis. For QA practising more and more questions will be beneficial.

Solve previous year question papers of CAT- One of the best ways to prepare for CAT 2020 in 3 months is to solve previous year question papers of CAT or sample papers. With the help of these papers, candidates will be able to gauge the type of questions asked in CAT and will be able to devise strategy for the same.

Manage Time- Apart from the three sections, time management is equally important and is considered section four by many toppers and experts of CAT. Hence, candidates must know how to manage their time. Do not waste time on TITA questions of CAT just because it has zero negative marking.

Do not forget the mock tests- Candidates preparing for CAT 2020 should never underestimate the power of CAT mock tests. For the purpose of preparation, IIMs provide an official mock test of CAT to candidates. Moreover, mock tests also provide a clear cut vision on how the actual exam will be. Candidates will get to know in advance how the exam day scenario is likely to be.

GATE Online Coaching

GATE Online Coaching – It is well known among engineering students that Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is one of the crucial battles and one needs weapons of good preparation in order to win. There are a lot of students who wish to prepare for the GATE exam but have no time to join a coaching institute and study with all dedication, the reason being ongoing engineering studies or even a job, or unavailability of a good coaching institute nearby. For such students, online coaching for GATE can prove much helpful to prepare for the exam while staying in their comfort zones and make them perform well. There are various benefits of online GATE coaching that are mostly ignored by students while having certain misconceptions. Thus, students may check out what factors should be considered before option for GATE online coaching and then kick start their preparation for the engineering entrance.

Prerequisites for Online GATE Coaching

Given below are the pointers that should be cross checked by students who wish to get started with online coaching for GATE:

Internet Connection

The first thing that connects with the term ‘online’ is the internet connection. In order to think about online coaching for GATE, candidates need to have a high speed internet connection. The reason being that in case the internet speed is slow, the online lectures that stream live will buffer now and then and thus, students will end up losing the chance to grasp the concept explained in that lecture. However, a good speed internet connection does not ensure a great network all the time, still if you are taking up online lectures, preliminary preparation should be done so that money is not thrown in trash.

Suitable Electronic Gadget

It is well known to this techy generation that computer electronic gadgets like laptop, smartphones, etc. are required to surf over the internet. So it becomes obvious that the student who wishes to join some online coaching for GATE should have the means through which he or she will attend the online lectures and prepare for the entrance exam. One should have a backup gadget as well because most online coachings provide live lectures only and if the only gadget betrays due to any reasons, the lecture will be missed out. Therefore, one should make sure that there is no scope for losing lectures due to technical reasons.

Finding the Best GATE Online Coaching

Once the technical department is assured, it is the right time to search for the best online GATE coaching that can help the students prepare well for the exam. The factors that should be kept in mind while looking for online coaching for GATE are the fee charged, the teachers who will be teaching, student reviews, total number of batches/ students, total period of online GATE coaching, etc. One should make sure that all these factors are in accordance with their requirements and the crucial ones like finances are not compromised as there will be no option for regrets.

Benefits of GATE Online Coaching

If a student is thinking why you should opt for online coaching for GATE, then given below are the possible advantages of not giving up the idea of it:

Time Saving

When a student starts preparing for GATE through online coaching, there is no need to be physically present and thus, there is no need to travel to another area. This saves a lot of time because many times students are preparing for GATE while still in the last year of their bachelors degree (B. Tech). So it becomes a bit difficult as well as hectic for students  to travel to the college and then join in the coaching, and thus also reduces that much of concentration.

Money Saving

Most of the online coachings for GATE prove to be cheaper as compared to the offline ones because firstly, the travel expenses are saved. Talking about the coaching fee, because there is less need for proper space and infrastructure in online mode, students are not charged much in the name of fee and the teachers are also paid accordingly.

Discussion on Problem

It is believed by many students that in offline coaching, you can bring your doubts in front of the teacher and get the solutions, explanations to the same accordingly which is not the case with online coaching. However, even in most of the online GATE coaching, the students are provided speciali chance to share their doubts and questions with the teacher during or after the online lecture gets over, or even through chats, as the case may be.

Convenient with other Chores

There are students who wish to prepare for the GATE entrance examination with external help but can not do so because they are studying or working and find it difficult to spare time for classes as per their coaching hours. For such students, online coaching for GATE proves more convenient as they can continue with those crucial chores (i.e. studies or job) and take up the non-live coaching lectures whenever they are free. This will help them prepare well and also not disturb their otherwise busy schedule.
